Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge is not only a hotel, it is a very popular daytime stop for people travelling the incredible Icefields Parkway. We have an outstanding reputation for our gift shop and restaurant. This reputation is built not only on product, but on the values we hold, how we treat each one another and how we treat each person that walks through our doors. We have great relationships with established tour companies that bring thousands of people through our doors each season. In addition, there are all the individual travellers dropping in to see what we have to offer. Daytime is our hustle and bustle time, and the time when the Parkway is busiest and our guests are out enjoying nature at its best.
In the evening, our in-house guests have the spotlight. The Parkway is quiet as travellers are all off to check into their hotels. With 50 rooms at Sunwapta, the atmosphere on property in the evening is intimate, private, special. Sunwapta’s commitment to providing outstanding vacation experiences in this pristine environment is a commitment we share in the Shop. What Else Can You Expect?
This is an opportunity for you to improve your ability to initiate and close sales, add valuable experience to your resume such as inventory control, pricing strategies, shipping and receiving, key holder, merchandising and display. There is even an opportunity to move to a supervisory role with more responsibility such as scheduling and supervising sales staff. You can expect to contribute to an amazing season with an inspiring sales mission statement, top quality products with a wide selection of jewelry, art, garments, souvenirs and print, in an incredibly fun atmosphere. Not to mention, your manager is one of the best sales people to hit any retail floor, anywhere. Retail sales involves a great mix of relationship building, administrative tasks and some light lifting. It can be fast paced and hectic, or the work flow can be methodical with a drive to perfection.
What do we offer?
An unparalleled rustic wilderness location in one of the world’s most desirable destinations – Jasper National Park. You will be working with the Rockies best hospitality team. Staff accommodation is provided ON SITE. You will live, work and socialize with a group of awesome coworkers and make friendships that will last a lifetime! Our accommodation is inexpensive, and provides all the basics: heat/hot water, satellite TV, wifi and a dedicated staff phone line.
Wage starts at $9.95/hr + an incredible commission structure for those who complete the term of their contract. The average commission/hr ratio by the end of the season is $1.60/hr. What will you aim for? Accommodation is subsidized: $250/month for a shared room (includes everything but food and long distance phone calls) Staff discounts in Restaurant and Gift Shop
